Idaho MMCP Explained: The Medicare Medicaid Coordinated Plan

What the Idaho MMCP is, who it's for, what's included, and how it compares to Original Medicare + Medicaid and to a D-SNP.

The Medicare Medicaid Coordinated Plan, MMCP, is Idaho's integrated program for people who have both Medicare and full Medicaid. Instead of juggling two separate plans, one carrier coordinates everything: doctors, hospitals, prescriptions, long-term services, transportation, and most of the help you need to stay independent.

Who can enroll in MMCP

  • You have Medicare Parts A and B.
  • You have full Idaho Medicaid (not just a Medicare Savings Program like QMB-only).
  • You live in an MMCP service area in Idaho.
  • Enrollment is voluntary, you can opt in, opt out, and switch month to month.

What's included

  • All Medicare Part A, Part B, and Part D benefits.
  • All Idaho Medicaid benefits, including long-term services and supports.
  • A single care coordinator who knows both your medical and your community-based services.
  • Transportation to medical appointments.
  • Dental, vision, and hearing benefits beyond Original Medicare.
  • OTC and wellness allowances on most plans.

MMCP vs. D-SNP vs. Original Medicare + Medicaid

MMCP is the most coordinated option, one plan, one card, one phone number. A D-SNP is a Medicare Advantage plan tailored for dual-eligibles, but Medicaid still runs separately. Original Medicare + Medicaid keeps the two programs fully separate and gives you the widest provider choice, but you handle the coordination yourself.

How to enroll or switch

Enrollment runs through the Medicare plan, not through Idaho Medicaid. We can submit an application on your behalf, compare the carriers available in your county, and make sure your doctors and prescriptions are covered before anything changes.
