Idaho Medicaid Eligibility in 2026: Income, Assets, and How to Apply
Current Idaho Medicaid income and asset limits for adults, aged/blind/disabled, and dual-eligible categories, plus how to apply through idalink.
Idaho Medicaid covers more people than most Idahoans realize, and the rules change every year. Here's what the income and asset limits look like in 2026 for the categories that overlap with Medicare.
Aged, Blind, and Disabled (ABD) Medicaid
This is the Medicaid category most Medicare beneficiaries qualify under. It's based on Social Security's SSI rules: very low income limits and a $2,000 asset cap for a single person ($3,000 for a couple). Your home, one car, and household goods don't count toward the asset limit.
Medicare Savings Programs (MSP)
If you're over the ABD income limit, you may still qualify for QMB, SLMB, or QI, covered in detail in our Medicare Savings Programs post. MSP income limits are higher and the asset limit is around $9,000 single / $14,000 couple.
Expansion Medicaid (for adults under 65)
Idaho expanded Medicaid in 2020. Adults 19 to 64 with income under 138% of the federal poverty level qualify, no asset test. If you're approaching 65 on expansion Medicaid, plan ahead: you'll transition to ABD or MSP rules when Medicare starts.
